A Dirt Road, Tractor Pic and the Seagulls

A dirt road is some what uncommon around here as most all have been graveled or black topped. These roads become nearly impossible to travel on when wet because the black dirt becomes very slippery and slimy. Pic of the 1270 digging up soybean stubble and in the fall quite often seagulls stop at freshly tilled fields in search of earthworms I suppose. Are these birds seen through out the Midwest and states to our south during the fall? We never see them in the spring. Does anyone know where they spend the summer months? Rod.

We use to have them in our fields all season before we went no-till. Now they’re still around, just not in our fields much. The ones around here hang around Lake Michigan when they’re not in the fields c***ing on tractors and their operators. They’re not just after worms, my dad has seen them make off with mice and baby rabbits.

VAC400 and I live in NW Ohio, about 20 minutes from Lake Erie. In the fall after harvest is over, the fields are covered with seagulls looking for worms as the ground is either moldboard or chisel plowed. Hundreds of them, and somehow they manage to hit the tractor windows with droppings almost at will. They must only like CASE tractors. LOL

Rod no seagulls here. Maybe a few by a lake at best. Just their filthy cousin the pigeon. I have yet to figure out their purpose in life other than target practice!

Rod,

4 miles from Lake Michigan. Thousands of them during tillage operations and sometimes hay cutting. Aggressive meat eaters. Don

Rod, I'm hanging my head low right beside you .. looks like we both have 1100 series JD mounted cultivators on the back of our 70 series. Min'es a 21 ft. Your tractor and cultivator are a little less rusty than mine ;-).

What I have is a 24 ft that I took 2 ft off so it matched up to my pull behind drag I use in the spring. Good old digger, Rod.
