It ran when I shut it off. That was only about two years ago. It seems to have no spark. I don't know enough to feel comfortable with tearing it apart. I did check to see that the points open and close and I cleaned them up some with a brown paper bag. Do the magnets give out? What else do I check or do I find somebody that knows more than me and send it to them?

The first thing to do is clean the points with a piece of fine sand paper until they are a little shiny. It shouldn't take much sanding to get the job done. Just wiping them down isn't enough to remove the oxidation.
I serviced the mag on my SC and had it checked by a professional shop about a year and a half ago, and it had very good spark. It then went into a box inside the house. When I put it on the tractor a few weeks ago it had a passible but weak spark.
Normally, when a mag is working, the points are constantly (and very slowly) eroding away and cleaning themselves of corrosion. If you let a tractor sit, it gives the points a chance to glaze over. This is one reason tractors and old cars seem to run poorly after sitting for a long time, but then run better after a few minutes of running.

Nothing complicated about tearing down a Case magneto. Most often it's the points. Remove the brass screw and the points can be removed from the plastic block. Clean both sides with fine sand paper. reinstall them, set the gap. Then take clean thin cardboard and rub it between the contacts to see if any dirt get on the cardboard.

If the condenser is bad. You can modifly a Farmall H4 magneto condenser to work.
