1175 brake trouble

My 1175 has started to really grab hard, even to the point of locking up, when I apply the left brake. Anybody else ever had this problem? Any ideas what would cause this? The brakes were always really good, now they're too good. Thanks, Don

Don: 2 things come to mind, leaking shaft seals will cause grabbing, & broken or loose springs on the actuator will also do it.

Don,

does it have disc brakes or conventional brakes, if conventional i'm in the boat with John but the discs were a different bird

I believe Dons 1175 is a later one with brakes like a 1070, but good point mel. If they are wet in there I replace the seals, if not leave them alone. I also replace the frost plug and o-ring in the end of the brake pinion shaft, I have seen them leak. If replacing the seals the hyd oil needs to be drained to remove the brake drums, the 2 bolts at the rear of the drum need sealer on them during reassemble. The holes are drilled through to the rear end housing. Torqued to 240 ft. lbs. if concerned. Don if you are going to do your brakes ask ?s when ready, there are some small tricks to help it go easier.
