We have an opportunity to purchase a David brown 1200. Supposedly it's in good shape and the only thing wrong is the 3 point won't go up.
Seller is looking for $1000 it's a close friend to my father in law.
We would do some occasional work with it and tractor pulls. How well would it do in stock pulls?

We have had a 1200 here since it was new.I don't know about tractor pulling with it but we pulled 4-14's for years in sticky clay ground did a good job but ours only has 18.4x30's on it and would run out of traction when it got wet.You will not find a cheaper tractor to run and tough as nails.Ours had a piston meltdown on the blower filling silo one year, scraped out the big chunks run a hone through it, new piston and its still going and that was 25 years ago.I can't really say anything bad about our poor old David.

The hydraulic problem is possibly a tiny hunka dirt in the relief valve. Very common and free to fix, except for your labor, problem. Great tractors, just a bit different from American iron.
