1070 PS and PTO slipping

Question for mEL or anyone that would like to join in.
our 1070 slips in 1st and 3rd PS also the PTO is slipping
I have not made any pressure checks as of yet, my question is:
I was leaning towards flow divider valve, would I be on the right track or is it something that I am overlooking

Dan,

C2 powershift clutch is used in both the ranges slipping, reverse also uses it, does it also slip in reverse?

Pressure test the ports in the powershift valve cover paying attention to C2 in the affected ranges. A leaky power shift clutch will often show as a lower pressure in the test port for that clutch.

A better test yet would be to have a flo test done on the hydraulics right from the remotes. A leaky power shift clutch will show up as decreased flow available to the remote couplers.

If you go that route keep the flo test pressure several hundred pounds lower than where the hydraulic levers return to neutral or tie the lever in full flow position.

If the pto slips in second range and the tractor drives normally the problem could be the rear unit itself, a leaky powershift can rob the flo necessaryto keep the pto pressure up.

Hoping all is well with you and yours, are you ready to let me bring that Sheppard home yet?

I think you have my phone number and if you don't call the shop and they will give it to you.

Flow dividers generally give very little problems but do set the working pressure for the powershif and pto. I would look at the other areas first

A poor mans flow test can be done by timing the raising of the 3 point hitch in each power shift position. That is all I can add to mEl's answer. He has it all correct!
