Combined beans this afternoon and got enough to
fill the truck for morning. Thought I would check
the corn for moisture content. Instead of putting
the JD corn head on the other 1660 decided to
fire up the 1665 and 306 corn head. Got to the
edge of the field and remembered the door to the
clean raddle chain was open. Climbed down and
crawled under the corn head to close the door on
the bottom front of the combine. Got back in the
cab and went the length of the machine and BAM!
the corn head slammed to the ground. Hose to the
cylinders broke. Somebody for some reason was
watching out for me. Preacher said this morning
that God has your days numbered before your born.
Guess my number isn't up yet. BE CAREFUL! out
there this harvest season and put the locks down
before crawling under any machine!

What a pretty sight!! Greatest Combine ever built. Great Corn Head also. Preacher also say "Sunday is a day of rest".

10-4 on the the good looking beaner--and taking the day off -- I spent some time practicing for hibernation today --nice!!!

Thanks for the reminder. We all get in a hurry sometimes with a bad ending. Thank God for guardian angles. Glad they work overtime. Steve

That was a little too close for comfort! Glad to hear you are OK. Someone was definitely looking out for you. Also, I sure admire people still using real Case combines. Don

Close-calls is God's way of saying take your time in the field. Glad to hear all is well and thank-you for the reminder. God Bless

Yes that was a close call. And I can relate, I was going to start the "1031" yesterday (Lords Day) and been leaving it in gear, as the shut off will not always work, I put the range control in neutral but forgot the gear selector, and was wheeling her over and giving her some ether, lucky she didnt catch, as she started to move, made think!

Glad your ok and me too!

Over the summer I started up my case dc by standing on the drawbar. The tractor started and the pto shaft turned, grabbed my shirt and spun. Luckily for me, the clutch discs in the pto spun enough for me to turn it by hand and get out of it. One of God's angels was watching over me for sure! Glad that you are ok!
