2390 powershift problems

my 2390 doesn't move in the 2 and 3 ps but will move in 1 and reverse ps. I took the valve body off and disassembled it and cleaned everything. checked psi before I cleaned it and after. had low psi on c2 (80psi) and c3 (45 psi). c1 and c4 have 200 psi after I cleaned the valve body c2 had over 100 psi and c3 had 100+ psi c1 c4 unchanged. what should my next step be? I have a dealer service manual to guide me along but still don't know what else I should check. thanks for the help

It sure sounds like you have a leak in C-2 and C-3. If this was a 1370 I would guess the bolts are broken in the PS, but I think all 2390's had 1/2 in bolts and I have never seen them break. Could have damaged hub seal rings, they would cause a similar low pressure in C2 and C3. Either way the tractor will be need to be split if it is confirmed to be a internal leak. You can make a isolation plug as described in the service manual to determine if the leak is internal or in the valve, but to be quite frank about it I have never seen a leak in the valve causing those symptoms. I would start splitting the tractor. Rod.

Agree with Rod, but I have seen the 1/2 bolts broken before. Someone doing something very bad to the tractor I figured. Even if the bolts aren't broken replace them when you are in there.

I should have added this in the first post, but this tractor has the pto clutch out and all of the clutch material is in the oil then come to find out the hyd filters were not in place so the system has clutch material in it. this is why I started cleaning the valve body

did You Check the Plastic Oil Tubes that go from the Control valve to the oil hub where the rear hub directs the oil for each shift .These some times
crack or the O rings split /90 Series are plastic ;70 series are steel tubes ]

When you get things fixed up remember to clean the housing and suction screen well so they are not the cause of future headaches. It is good you made note of these other problems but you still have a leak you will have to locate and repair. Rod.

Hi
Sounds to me this tractor might be like the Deere system when it gets filings in the oil. if the filters have not been fitted at some point. Im guessing not left out by you, and you haven't had it long. the hole thing is full of junk, and it will be a real expensive pig to sort out, and might never be any good.

Worked for a NH dealer that traded a red 3594 or something like that in. the trans went tight on the new owner 2 days in, and i went out to it. pulled the 2 spin on's in front the cab. the first one dropped off the threads, and near broke my arm it was so heavy. the trans oil was like silver paint with metal as well
I bet it had 25lb of filings in each filter. that tractor came back and got dumped at auction, I quit soon after that due to the lies I was supposed to tell the customer about it!.

i wonder if this one you have is the same kinda deal with the pto and stuff?
Regards Robert
