Light Switch Resistor ?

Have the 3 position light switch on my 48' VAC, and the resistor is bad. Figuring the generator is a 6 volt, and the max amp output is 12 amp, I had John send me a new Light Switch and the resistor measures 1.5 ohms, but am not sure what wattage it should be. My calculations tells me it should be a 1.5 ohm, 35 to 72 watt resistor. Does anyone know what the original resistor should be.? Old light switch tests good, and would like to keep it on tractor.

Thanks, Mike

This is located on the light switch, and when the light switch is in different positions, the voltage is discharged to ground through this resistor.

This resistor lifts the field of the generator above ground potential to reduce magnetic flux and charge current. 10 watts will do the job. You got a switch without the resistor?

The original light switch still works on my tractor, but the resistor was of paper material and wire is broken so I just need to install a new resistor.
