Mounting a 390 loader on a 530C

I'm in the process of mounting an 390 series loader on an eagle hitch 530 COM. To do this, I need to plumb hydraulics through a two spool "loader valve" that I am mounting off of the right hand vertical beam of the loader frame.

A couple of questions:

1. I've narrowed the valve assembly down to two units. One is made by Prince, the other by Cross. Both have a float position in the left spool. Is there any significant quality difference between the two brands? Keep in mind I only have about 9 gpm and 1200 psi to work with, so the valve doesn't need to be overly "robust".

2. I will be supplying the valve assembly by replacing the the current remote hydraulic valve cover with one off of a later Draft-O-Matic tractor. That will give me a pressure port that was used to supply oil under pressure to the DOM valve. However, I'm not sure where to return the oil to the torque tube. Keep in mind this is a COM tractor with the hydraulic filter opening on the right side of the tractor. The cap for the filter has a plug in the middle of it that I could plumb a return line into, or I could run a return line into the breather tube on the opposite side of the torque tube. The former seems like a more sanitary installation and would be constant with the way the DOM valves were plumbed back into the later tractors. So the question is.... Is there any reason I cannot, or should not plumb the return line back through the filter assembly?

Any thoughts, ideas or experiences anyone might be willing to share before I get too deep into this project would be greatly appreciated. - Joe

This is a plywood design I created to mount the loader valve. My machine shop will use the model to build the frame out of 1/4" steel tomorrow.

I had to go out and check out my 430DOM today. The return port from the DOM feeds into the cover on the filter housing, but it is a 3/4" steel line and crosses over the tranny housing and the filter cover is on the LH side of the torque tube.
Seams to me that if you use the 1/2" port on your filter cover you would at least have filtration of your return oil from your aux valve.

Thank you Loren. I like the idea of the oil being filtered as it returns, and it seems like a logical approach to my situation since Case did it on the later DOM models. Thanks again. - Joe
