found a gas 630 for sale he said it runs well and slips some when in torque mode..says he put hytran in it but I have been told it needs something thinner like atf..is this true would the thicker fluid cause problems like this?..are they good tractors?..would use it for brushogging and such..thanks for any help

It is a torque converter driven tractor. When the converter is not locked hydraulicly into direct drive, lever on right of dash pulled down, it is suppose to slow down and multiply the torque to the rear wheels. As long as the direct drive locks up imediatly when the lever is pulled down, it sounds like the tractor is doing what it was designed to do.
When putting it into any gear, depress the inching spool/clutch pedal, with the engine IDLING, and put it in gear, and let the pedal up, then throttle up to turn the wheels. It works like the auto tranny in your PU.

thanks for your reply ..I didn't know and haven't ever run a case o matic..just the la's and dc's and such....thanks again

im glad to hear that its better that way I wouldn't have to change it if I do get it..thanks for the help

Once you get used to the COM you'll probably love it. Really nice system IMO. I'm still kicking myself for passing up a 630 diesel.
