case 970 lost all functions

driving my 970 today down a hill when all of a sudden it just lost all power, it still runs fine but it lost powersteering 3 pt brakes and wont go into gear while running just grinds. the trans pressure gauge dropped all the way to the left when this happened. didnt hear no noise or nothing just started rolling down hill like it was in neutrul. the gauge has always been in the green untill the second it happened. any ideas what this would be? just cut hay today and this is the only tractor i have big enough to run baler.

Same thing happened to me with my 1070. Scared the crap out of me!When i got to the bottom of the hill it primed itself back up. It was low on oil and after that i keep it at least a gallon above full.

If you can get the tractor to a relatively level area and if it has enough oil in it we know all should work Ok. If not I would suspect for some reason the pump is no longer pumping. The fact that the gears grind yet is a good thing, that tells us the torque limiter has not failed which drives the pump on early 970's if yours would happen to be one of those. I would remove the pump and have someone watch as the engine is being cranked to see if drive shaft is turning. If not remove PTO unit and determine cause. If it is in fact turning, replace pump. Rod.

checked the oil this morning and it was a little low so added some to get it up to the full mark and cranked it up and let it run for 3-4 minutes and still nothing, should that be long enough for it to prime itself? or is there someway im supposed to prime it or what?

ok so i went with my other tractor to pull it back to the house before i started working on it and when i got it to the top of the hill i thought i would try it one more time and when i cranked it up 5 secs later gauge moved up to green and everything is working like before, so maybe it did just come unprimed and nothing else, thanks for the help
