Been kinda wanting a 1030 for a while. This one popped up on a facebook group, and was only 2 hours away. The story was that the dad was plowing 11 years ago, and she lost power. He drove it in the shed, and it never started again. They were considering scrapping it. Not in bad shape, tires not so good, and a lot of hours, but I only paid $1400. Brought it home this evening, put a battery in it, gave it a little shot of ether, and she started right up. It has some blow-by, but sounded good. It did start to knock a little, but then cleared up- figured an injector was a bit stuck. I only ran it for about 5 minutes. Clutch and brakes seem good. Engine may very well be junk, but at least it runs. I"ll get an oil pressure gauge on it and see what I have. I"m just amazed how long a diesel can sit, and still start.

I would like to find a 3-point for it. They removed it years ago for another tractor. The rockshaft arms are there. I thought the lift arms and links were the same for a lot of years- what will fit?

Might sell my "59 900 if this 1030 comes around. Hate to see it go, but I"m out of room.

Nice find. We just started to restore a 1030 western ( 1032 ) so will keep you posted on how we progress with it. The Flambeau Red paint is hard to find so I will try Power red and see if I like it.

Most of my tractors are Western/Standard/Wheatland, but I sure like the view from a 1030 seat.

I don't know if this applies to your new tractor or not but Sometimes when people say the tractor lost power; what actually happens is the fuel line or filters becomes plugged.

My 930 diesel used to lose power until I replaced the filters and blew air through the fuel lines to the tank

If it has sat for a day or 2 take and crack the oil pan plug a little and see if you have any coolent in the oil.If not that is a good thing.

I dont like to hear that knock, but I dont know if I would run it till you do some further checking.

I shared that to a coupe facebook pages hoping it'd find a home much better than a scrap yard. Glad to see it going somewhere it can get fixed, who knows, it might be something simple!

1030 3pt. arms are unique to it and maybe a 1070 the sway blocks are too. top link is the same as the rest of the 30 series Racine built tractors. Looks like a nice find though must be an early one ,'66 ???

Yes, Paul- it"s a late "66. I have the sway blocks, just missing the lower links and lift rods. I"m not particular- just hoping to find some that fit.
