Case 430 Backhoe

I usually hang out on the farmall board because I bleed red, but I am open to anything accept those jumping white tails. I have been kicking around the idea of getting a backhoe for some small projects around the farm and watching Craigslist I found one. It's a Case 430 and looks to be in good condition. Any opinions on this particular machine?

Thanks
Nate

That is one nice looking machine if it runs as good as it looks I would pay the man and run with it before he changes his mind.

My friend had one, it had a diesel engine,

The power steering fluid would leak into the motor oil, from time to time you drained out a qt of oil out of the crankcase, then added it back to the power steering reservoir.

The front bucket was very strong,

The rear hoe system leaked oil inside the gear case somewhere and was not as strong.

Before you lay your money down, take it out and dig a hole with the hoe!!!!!!! Be sure it will dig, these old tractors will have a lot of hard hours and miles on them and they are like an old combine, just trying to tear themselves apart most all the time.

I've a 310B hoe, a couple of years older here on the farm, best tool I've got (just about) Very handy. Gas engine is the best, you're not running it 24-7. The ONLY issue with mine was the previous owners didn't know how to use a grease gun and the bucket/boom/dipper pivots are well worn, can't really dig close to water or electrical. But shouldn't really be doing that anyway. Super price - don't fool around

Nate I think that is the 1 son checked out the other day. Start it and let it run for a while, shut it off and see if it will restart. do this several times. If it is the same 1 he checked out it kept getting harder to start. There were several other problems that the guy said needed fixed too.

I have basically the same hoe. Mine is a model 22 hung on a 530 now. The 530 has a lot more power then the 430 did, but the 430 was TIRED. Mine is like everyone elses. You really have to pay attention when digging close to anything. The pins are totally worn out.
I would be lost without mine, even though I only use a few times a year. I would hate to guess how many water lines I have had to dig up and repair over the years, and with my hoe, I can have it done before most guys even think about the repair.
