Cummins update

Just got the word from the machine shop that is pressure testing the heads. One of the injector cup coppers is leaking out the top. Parts should be in Tuesday. My elbows hurt just thinking about torqueing the heads. 36 of them to go to 300 ft lbs. in several stages.

I'm not familiar w/ the Cummins. On a CASE 188 w/ the injector cups, if they leak, they let compression into the cooling system. You said you didn't have that, I think. Where does the Cummins leaking cup let the coolant go?

Darrel, do you have any buddies who have a torque multiplier that you can borrow? That's the only way I can get torque that high accurately. BT

Right into the combustion chamber with the fuel so it all gets burned and goes out the exhaust.

That ain't so bad... Try torquing 16 wing attach bolts on a fighter jet at 950 lbs/ft... 3 times each... At 1 hour intervals. It'll wear you out!

I do have the extension for the torque wrench so it torques to 600 ft lbs if that is what you refer to. It makes the torque wrench 5 feet long. I also have a 12X multiplier tool, but I do not think there is room for that. It sure works good on bud wheels though!
