does anyone know a source for a governor bearing for a 770 gas

The only bearing I see listed in the 770 parts breakdown is a thrust bearing. You may have to find the manufacturer to get that or did you check Case for availability, considering the age and scarcity I suppose they have discontinued it. Case parts system identified it as a pierce built unit.
