Any SC Case Tractors Around?

Hi,

I thought I would give this forum a chance so see if there are any SC Case tractors around that have the foot clutch. I know they are really rare and it's kind of a long shot. But my grandfather bought one new from at the time Wendell Soper Implement in northern Minnesota. Unfortunately he sold it, but my dad relocated it down by Lake George, Minnesota region and was going to buy it back, but the guy up and sold it the same day he showed up with the money. This was my dad's favorite tractor of all time and it would be nice to find another one for him as a present for all the hard work he's done over the years for us kids. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas.

I have two of them in Indiana. While they are low production, I don't think they are that hard to find.

I have one, I know the whereabouts of two parts tractors, and I know of three more that are owned by collectors in the immediate area. Also, mid-Michigan is not exactly Case country.
If you figure a production of about 3000, then that would make 60 per average-sized state. If half of those have been scrapped, then you are still looking at 30 per state. Really, there aren't enough die hard Case collectors to account for all of them. If you watch craigslist like a hawk, you can probably find one for sale within 400 miles of you in the next year.

I just bought a 53 with foot clutch, eh, and live pto. Monday I ran across another one like it with an adjustable wide front that I'm going to look at.

I can't help you with a late model SC but I was wondering if you could tell me what town the Case dealer, Wendell Soper was located in? Thanks for your help, Don

Like Christopher said, you should be able to find one that's a day trip away. I have 3 complete foot clutch SC's and a parts one that I could put together. There are a few differences from early to late foot clutch production.I think the late '53's and all 54's had 16" front wheels and foot throttles. Only 1 of mine has these features.
Take your time and find a nice one. It will be cheaper in the long run

Foot Clutch SC's and DC's have become easier to find with the internet. Nick

I have one here in southern Illinois, it is a 1954.
I have one question about it for you Case experts.
My engine block # is not a near match for the
serial #. Would Case have used an old block from
the wharehouse on a 54 model to use up parts to
finish the production run of the SC?

In short, no. Case had spare blocks without serial numbers that they supplied to dealers as replacements. If it has a serial number from a different year, then either the engine was changed, or the serial tag was changed, etc.

I always assumed the block was changed. The foot clutch and the serial # are about right, but there was always some doubt in my mind. This is convincing enough to tell me it has had an engine swap at some point in its life. I still love the tractor and it was the first "collector" tractor I purchased, so it will problably never leave the farm.

Wendell Soper had Case Implement in Fosston MN-Not sure what years he was in business but I do know my dad used to buy there in the 70s.

You asked if any around, yes, but not for sale, @ any price. Bought it out of a salvage yard in 1988, motor stuck, but tractor all complete. Finally, in 1996 I finished a complete restoration. She's a sweetheart. 16" Fronts, Cast Rims, Adjustable Wide Front.

I knew where there was a really nice complete 54
SC that came from my home town dealer. The owner
died and I was watching for a sale. The stupid
sons sold it and 24 other tractors for iron. Now,
I was told they are going to have a sale for the
running equipment.

The 54 SC was left over inventory from when the
dealership closed in 56. They put it in a barn
where it sat till 1984. An old farmer in town
bought it and never used it. it sat in his yard
till his sons sold it last January.

I have two Sc's with hand clutch.

(quoted from post at 17:43:20 08/21/14) I can't help you with a late model SC but I was wondering if you could tell me what town the Case dealer, Wendell Soper was located in? Thanks for your help, Don

He was located in the Bagley/Fosston area, it would have been back in the 40-60's.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm definitely not gonna give up finding one. The one my grandfather used to own was around a 1954 if I remember right. It also doesn't matter to me what kind of shape it's in, just needs to be mostly complete. I actually prefer fix'er uppers versus restored tractors; I really emjoy taking a tractor apart and restoring, just like I did with my VAC-14 Case. Thanks again everyone for the info.
