SC Oil Pressure

This is a project for a later day, but I would like to see my '54 SC have a little more oil prssure than the 18 pounds it carries now. When I put rings in it (cylinders were like new) I installed new rof bearings (crank shaft was in spec), but I never looked at the main bearings or cam bearings. Assuming the pump to be good, what do you think my problem is? Guage is new.

Thanks,
Glrnn F.

Mine is a53 which was in real nice shape when I got it my pressure is in that 20 neck of the woods also,I always wondered if that was low but apparently not,I've never had any problems and I use it quite abit

I was around a "SC in the 40 s that never had more than 18 to 20 lbs oil pres. That seemed normal for several " SC s that I have run over the yrs. Never knew of one to have problems due to the oil pres. One was used yearly to run the blower filling silos, really a little to much , but still ' hung in there. clint

My "43" S has run at 18 lbs for years, the original owners manual says to only worry if it drops below 15.

I am a firm believer in not fixing what ain't broke. Our old SC held less pressure than that and it was never a problem.
