Butterfield MN, IH featured Tractor

These people run a top notch show every year, something for everyone. I always take pics for tractors that interest me, so please bare with me. How about that nicely installed V8 in a 350. Why were some C's painted white? I knew they made a 1468 but did not know there is a 1568. Does anyone know why IH painted some of their early 4wd's yellow? I will keep the 1470. Nice eagle on the front of the tractor which is not cast, but did not seem like fiberglass either. Are the colors right on this centennial plow? I did not know IH called some of their tractors Gold Demonstrators! The final drives on the 2255 sure look like those used on 1170+75 tractors. Never knew any companies built a cab for a H, this one is kinda neat.

I'm not an expert by any means but I will give it a shot. The white paint I thought designated a demonstrator, I could be wrong. 1568 had a tad more power than a 1468 I believe and I don't get the fascination with them, it was a bad idea then and still is if you ask me. The yellow 4wds I thought were for industrial applications. And for the golden demonstrators they are worth some good money now days. I had an international loving coworker that told me back in the day a lot of farmers didn't want to be seen by the neighbors driving a gold tractor so a lot of them got painted the original colors. He knows of a few locally that way and won't tell anyone about them so he can buy them some day.

Looks like it was a good day for a good show. I like the pics. There isn't a lot of shows here so seeing the pics are great.

All of the earlier IH 4 wheel drives were painted yellow because they were actually assembled at the Hough loader plant.. I agree on the V8's. They never had the torque of the 400 series IH engines and had lots of bottom end trouble. I was told by an old IH mechanic that you have to pull the pan roll in new bearing about every 2000 hrs and they would do ok. They sure do sound nice under a load though! Nice pics Rod!

Great pictures. Lots of all makes but took a DC to get the work done! Suggested to the Oliver board one time about the similar planetaries. Was told their's were exclusive to Oliver only.

I'll take a shot at the plow colors: Nice plow even though the wheels and frame don't look quite right . What is kind of flambeau should be implement red and the wheels should be what kind of equates to Euclid green. Looks like someone went through this one and saved a plow that is seeing some use; nicely scoured moldboards.

Oh yeah, the light green should be more of an Oliver green.

It is a very nice plow but the colors just did not seem right to me. And I surely did not know the factory paint scheme.

And while we are at it the bolts were painted from the factory, but it is nice when someone cleans something and paints it.

Like it was said earlier the 4100 and 4156 were yellow because they came out of the Hough factory. However, they were designed as agricultural tractors first. 4100s were popular around here for a short time. The 4156 is rare as IH only made 218 units. Of all the pictures, give me the Ollie 2255 and the IH 4156.

I don't know the answer to any of your questions but I do know that I like looking at your pictures. It looks like it was a good show with many tractors and good weather. Thanks for posting your pictures.

Thank you for a nice set of pictures. Really was surprised at the "Automatic" brand tractor cab. I rember them about 1950. I think they were made at Pfender , NB.? Looks like it is well restored .

yes lots of nice pix ,had to be a good show ,, but again it took a DC to get the job done , lol ,they are tuf ol birds ,, somewhere long ago I saw a cab like the h has
