Harvesting fire wood.

Well guys.
The uncles started combining oats yesterday afternoon. It's raining now so thats the end of that for now!
I have had a busy week. We blacktoped the driveway at my dads house and my uncles house Monday. 58 tons to complete the jobs. Wed. I graded topsoil up to the new blacktop at dad's house. The summer long landscapeing job is finally completed. Tuesday the cousins and uncle, and I canned up another barrel of maple syrup for our main customer. He will need another in 2 weeks. Yesterday the wifey froze up 53 qts of sweet corn. I went to the woods and split part of a pile of logs at one of the landings I have in the woods. I like working in the woods. Knowone questions what or how I do things. LOL.
The gin pole and grapple that I built for the splitter works great. no more lifting heavy blocks, and the splitter is at a work heidth where I dont have to bend over, and can be manuvered easily on the tractors 3pt. as the split pile grows and the block pile moves further away. the winch is a remoter controlled HF special, that I just got for $50 bucks plus the replacement warranty. It has 2500# line pull, and will skid the Kubota around if a log snags. It works really great to pull the logs out of my piles for blocking, and reaching off the roads to pull out fallen limbs along the way, rather than backing off the road with the tractor. For skidding the big stuff, I drop the splitter and put on my homemade 3pt. log arch. I have another one of these winches with a hands on, control that I plan on mtg on the arch in the near future. th

I just can't get used to seeing that in the summer. Cutting wood is a winter time project for me. Looks good tho.

Great ideas and tools you have for the job. With the amount of wood you cut and split I am sure they save time and your back. I know what you mean by liking to spend some quiet time in the woods. Wish I could shut the doors and leave for a couple days, been that kind of week. Looking forward to seeing those perfectly stacked piles, Rod.

Loren, wish I had a place like that. Sounds like you are keeping busy for somebody thats "retired" hee hee. Glad ta see you and the "mrs" is doing well. God Bless

Loren, always enjoy your posts, and especially when your cutting wood for firewood. Just wondering thou, do you also have a kitchen wood range also? Just curious, I have one but not hooked up.
I cant do much here yet, but least can enjoy seeing what your doing.
