hi guys just bought my second case ever..1st was a vai that was in bad shape this one runs but I don't really know what it is..guy I bought it from said its a 300 but it doesn't have the round nose..its the square with the 2 grill screens..its a utility I would say low to ground fixed wide front diesel..manual trans with hi low lever on the right of operator..has a lever to the left that he said would stop the tractor moving but still run pto..has 14.9 24 on rear..pressed steel...has 3pt with eagle hitch..what could this be?...any quirks about the diesels I should be aware of ..I think this one wetstacks some as it has trails of black from manifold into muffler but it started up and ran good without smoking...the throttle lever doesn't work its on the left side of the steering wheel and moves but doesn't move the linkage?..any thoughts on that..thanks for all the input..im excited to get it...thanks again

It sounds like you might have a 300B, or possibly an early 430. If it's the former, it has a deisel engine made by Continental and there were only 64 of them made from 1958-1959.

Just to add a bit, to Joe's comment. The Continental deisel will have the exaust stack on the RH side of the hood. The Case 188 will have the exaust on the LH side.

it has the exhaust on the right hand side when sitting on the tractor...if it is only one of 64 I bet parts are hard to come by..i think it is a 300b..when looking at pics on here in the gallery that"s what it looks like..are they good engines..it does have a red seal decal on the valve cover..what about the throttle linkage..any insight on whats loose there?..thanks again for the help

The red seal decal is definitly a Continental engine. Nice find! It is the same as a 300 round nose, but has different sheet metal, so there were more than 64 made. Don L or John S on this forum will most likely be able to help you with parts for your tractor.
