Combined some oats today too.

Guess Tom doesn't get to have ALL the fun. LOL Got most of the oats done today. Combine worked good til just a few rounds before I was done when the gas filter plugged up. Oats was pretty poor this year, first from wet then later from dry. Here are some pics and a short video.

What is the reason for swathing and not direct cutting the oats?Here in Ohio everything is direct cut.
 
Most years it lets us harvest sooner. This year the weeds took over so we cut and let it dry a few days so it goes through better and you get less weeds in the grain.
 
Same as my OHIO neighbor. He windrowed his due to green weeds .WEEDS had ideal weather here this spring an took advantage of weather to compete with oats.
 
The second video doesn't play for me. You can get to it by deleting the "%20" that is in front of the "http" and follow directions.
 
Brings back memories of my 1160. It was my first Case machine,bought in 1975 for $4000. Bought the first 1660 in 1979. How many years since the 1160 was ran?? Mine came from southern Ill. Previous to the 1160, I combined with a 64 Western Special and a 140 pto IHC combine.
 
Jon great pics and vid! looks like you Are having Fun! when you have time would you snap a pic of your bin auger? seems to me mine is bigger than that, seems that in 69 they used the same auger for 1160 that the 1660 used,,Hmmm, will have to look at mine, I know yours is turning faster than mine if its smaller they sped it up to keep up in Corn
