Can anyone tell me what a 1949 DC4 without any additional weights and no fluid in tires should weigh - possibly Original "Shipping Weight"

Mine's a 52 and weighs 5450 w/o weights. It's the longer wheel base with the solid cast front wheels.Ron

Thanks to both for quick responses - that confirms my hopes - closer to 5000 than 7000 pounds. I'm headed up to pick up tractor later this week and maybe a pair of smaller narrow front tractors and was concerned when I saw 7000 pounds on original Nebraska test. Looks like max load would be about 12,000-12,500 pounds on a dual tandem gooseneck that weighs about 7500 pounds empty. Right at 20,000 total which is about as much as I want to pull with F250.

Best, Ed

Longer Wheelbase - OK you have peaked my curiosity - I'm not that much of a Case person - 2 SC's, and a couple of VAS and VAH til now.

What I have is tagged DC, but it has wide non-adjustable front and 38 inch rear tires. I believe that is a DC4 based on pictures in Case books, but front wheels are under nose - not out front like the adjustable wide fronts. Front wheels are clamp on dismountable rims not cast.

So do I have a DC4 or am I misidentifying it? I know there were changes in brakes and hand clutch location over the years - did wheelbase of DC4 change? Were there multiple versions of DC4?

What you have is an earlier model DC4. In 1952 you could add an Eagle Hitch 3 point setup, and that came with a big cast iron "heart" that extended the front axle, and cast iron tire rims that added significant weight way out front to offset mounted implements on the back. Don
