Mechanical Bail

I recently purchased a case SC 1947. If features the mechanical bail. Does anyone have pictures of theirs holding Cat 1 three point implements. I saw that this might be a possibility even without a top link with some modification.

Here is a photo of the rear of the tractor

Here is a lister planter on a DC using the lifting bail. Son has a 48 SC with a 2 row cultivator mounted that uses the lifting bail to put the cultivator in and out of the. ground

Here are a couple paths to Hydraulic bail lift hitches for SC (you will have to copy and paste to your browser).

Thank you for the pics. So were these designed for use with the bail or modified? It seems like the lister has its own top link? I am trying to figure out if there is a way to use what I have with Cat 1 three point hitch implements, or if I should just look for some "original" implements.

Oh your welcome. Figured those paths I posted might give you some ideas even though they hydraulic bail lifts instead of mechanical bail lifts.

I have ever seen anything done with mechanical bail lift hitches so I am curious to see what else gets posted.....

No top link involved. The planter has a bracket that goes under the tractor and attaches to the drawbar mounting bolts and the lifting bail raises the planter from mid-point on that bracket.

I don't know what 3 point equipment you are planning to use. Hydraulics allow you to control the amount the implement is raised or lowered or float in the down position. The mechanical lift is either fully raised or fully lowered with no ability to stop in between or float. Anything can be made to work with enough adaptation but... Arvin

On the contrary, the implements all had levers to control depth. The lifting bail was just that, to lift and lower the implement attached. Previous to the lifting bail system you had to use a lever to manually raise and lower the implement such as a cultivator by hand. A tiring affair when cultivating all day. The lister planter has levers to control depth of the planter.

My dad had one of those listers, but it went for scrap on his sale 28 years ago. I was unable to be there and save it.
There is no top link for those implements; I could show someone how it's mounted but I can't describe it easily.

So the least headache would be to find implements that originally worked with this tractor? Even though the other threads were hydraulic instead of mechanical, the same adaption principles would apply correct?

I have a design for one with a hydraulic lifting bail. Should work with the mechanical one as well. Send me an email and I will send you some information.

Ooops, my previous post didn"t show that you could email me. Perhaps this one will. Send me an email and I will attach photos and drawings of a 3pt. hitch conversion that should work with your existing implements.

My email address is [email protected]. I am just now getting your message. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks
