Cousin from the wessels sale working out

I know the wessels sale generated a lot of interest on here so thought some of you might appreciate seeing one of the tractors on it running. This is the M2 Heider motor cultivator actually cultivating. We wanted to get a little practice in (who are we kiddign, we just wanted to play) before we try to cultivate as a demonstration at Geneseo IL as part of the feature on Sept 12-14th.

She's a beast to run and it was designed for a 6'4 octopus to run it. Also seems to have three main speeds, fast, faster and bat outta hell. After running this one, Dad and i are wondering how the heck we'll make the 2 row work.

Very cool. Looked for a second like you were about to "cultivate" that light pole!

Paul, sure enjoyed the clip, yes I can see you need to keep your hands "available", wow, amazing, so glad Herb saved this piece of history and restored. And you have it and are using it and enjoying.

Thanks for posting.

Great video! ! Did you have to do much work to get it running
that well?

Nick,
We are still using the replacement carb they stuck on it before the sale. the original the cork float disintegrated. We will probably worry about that after the show since this one works. Its in exceptional shape overall, the extent of prep work we did was free up a stuck valve, change two spark plugs and change the oil. after we did that it really smoothed out. We ran it around the yard a little and realized we had it in high gear and that neither of us had the arm length to work the clutch properly so we we moved the steering wheel farther in and adjusted the clutch range for a smaller reverse range and an earlier forward engagement. after we used it we moved the entire mounting bracket. its not as sturdy so I think we will add a small plate in there since it only is held on by two holes instead of three and breaking a casting would be a very bad thing. We will do a little brake work as well, but I don't see much use for them as they are awkwardly placed. It will need a new friction disk at some point. Another thing to look into is the steering chains. a local friend has an original M2 so we have been comparing notes and are trying to get his running again as well for the show. Of the ones I have decent knowledge of, its easily the best running condition one out there (actually, may be the only running one right now, but a few are close to running condition).
