These fella's were installing insulated spacers of sort on this transmission line near our home. Watched as the chopper brought them supplies in a bucket, then would pull them farther down the line to install more. The guys are hooked to the line of course and must just slide along as they go. They would have to get a chopper ride to get on and off. Sooooo what do you suppose they do when a restroom break is required? LOL. Rod.

I hope these guys are paid very well. I cringe in my chair just thinking about what he is doing there. LOL Me and heights don't get along well.
It would have been very intersting to watch these guys at work though.

those are different rig then what the used on the line by me. there was no chopper just bucket trucks. friend of mine said the by fairfax the baskets they were using had an engine and they would just cruise down the line. Heights don't bother me to bad cause of working at the feed mill but the movement would cause me troubles.

Make sure you are good friends with the chopper operator. Could be awful lonely up there after everyone went home for the day. LOL

A buddy of mine used to do this on a communication line that ran over a deep valley in Eastern Ohio. He could start from one end and pull himself across to a junction that he would clean and whatever, and inspect the line all the way across, then pull himself back to the start. Showed me a picture nother worker took of him in the middle of the line. Looked awfully deep in that valley and those lines were awfully small looking. Not for me, at all.
