Wisconsin Parts Trip

Needed a crankshaft for the G1000 MM and found a NOS in Black Creek Wisc. Sure we could have had it shipped but the wife and I thought this would be that chance to visit Door County. Wisc. that everyone talks about. I took lots of pics but not of CASE tractors, This is different stuff that I don't see around here. First is the reason for the trip, the old massive crank. My wife took tons of pics of barn quilts as she calls them, these are popular in eastern MN and western Wisc. the way it looks to me. Now she will make one and guess who gets to hang it on a building. Seen some neat strip farming and Tom these guys farm some hills I would be afraid to drive on! How about a TANK Crossing sign, does anyone know where I spotted this? Seen this Oliver combine that has been in the same spot for a long time, anyone know where this is? I did spot a Case Helix wagon in southern MN, a very uncommon sight around here. And if those did not bore you enough here is a place where they have a cherry pit spitting contest, if I remember correctly, men's record is around 43 ft and woman's about 38ft. I found out I suck at spitting, LOL. Lastly is this kind of silo, must have been very popular early on in farming. Lots of them in the Green Bay area and north. Rod.

Hello Rod,

You should have stopped in for a visit. I am located just a few miles north of Sturgeon Bay. What did you think of Door County? I'm not really sure why everybody comes here. Don

Tank crossing must be somewhere around the Camp McCoy area isn't it? I think that's about 100 miles East of the MN/WI border on 94. It's a pretty good sized reserve/ng training area. Or at least it used to be................

Great pics., Rod. In my truckin days I saw a lot of great barns, some really kept up and some falling down. Some really big ones in Wis. and Ohio. The guys in the Oliver forum would probably like to know the location of the WFE dealer.

Thanks for the "trip" Rod!! that explains why I could not reach you, started combing here things are gong to get busy real soon!! also been putting new tires on the rear of the big Didge as well LOL will talk soon

Dang, we must have drove by your place as we went north as far as we could. My wife has friends that always told her to visit Door Co. if the chance comes. Nice place for us to see because it is very different country than here in SW MN. Rod.

AYE....I have seen the tank sign many times at Fort Mcoy. The combine sits out frt at Ebert Bro's Imp. at Sparta. Been in there store a few times,I get the early SC round threaded glass sediment bulbs from them. They still sell parts. And that crusty combine has sat there for ....hummmmm, a long time.
They still work the service shop as well. It truly, it a trip back in time. Bout like Sankot [ Case]Garage in Belle Plaine Iowa.

Nice pics ,Mrs / MR Rod.

Rod,

Well, if you ever happen to get here again you are more than welcome to stop in.

Up until a few years ago this county had many small dairy farms, but that generation is all dying off now and corn and soybeans are now the rule, just like almost everywhere else these days.
