Case 900 drawbar

I have a 58 case 900 I use primarily for vintage tractor pulling. In our class (8500-10000lb) we have a max height of 18" for the drawbar. Well yesterday while pulling I managed to bend mine, only from the rear support roller back. Has anyone ever built a different setup for the back of this tractor, or reinforced the factory setup?

(quoted from post at 18:45:15 07/28/14) Just bolt a plow clevis on the swing. Will make a world of difference in what it pulls.

I would think you would still want to pull from the factory pin in the center of the tractor no? Can you pull that hard from the curved support at the back?

Here is a pic of my sons 600. Made a shortened drawbar for pulling and can bolt on the support and use the swinging drawbar when needed.

Interesting. Looks like a nice job done! How does it pull? i know in my experience hitch height can make a big difference, so ive always tried to be as close to 18" as possible, trying a few different styles of hitch risers. (maybe why i have a bent drawbar :? )

It pulls fairly well. I have the drawbar about as short as I can get it and still get 20" of height below the PTO housing. Even with it short I still usually have to stack a bunch of weight on the front to keep the front end down in the 9500 lb class. If you are pulling sleds with a long chain you may want to have the ability to move the drawbar out some. I made my front drawbar mount so that with one bolt I can remove the pin and slide the drawbar longer or shorter to a different hole or replace it with the stock length bar for farming.
