Minnie Mo Bottom End

I know many don't care to look at this, but I find all engines interesting and this one is no exception. Very different 4 main set-up and the four and a half ft long crank is heavy for a 110 hp tractor. This had #6 Con-rod brg weld itself to the crank due to operating with a very low oil level. The rod and journal got so hot it ignited crankcase vapors, causing a Minnie explosion that blew out valve cover gaskets. We will just replace the crank because a good used one is only a few dollars more than repairing the old one and then we do not have to worry about that heat stressed journal. Rod.

What model of Minnie? Lot of iron in that girl!

Dad worked at a MM dealer back in the late 50's early 60's. They still make him cuss!

Does it look something kind of like this Rod? :) I just had the inj pump rebuilt on ours. Case and MM are some of the best pulling tractors. I had to replace the main bearings in our G900 a couple yrs ago from hard water getting into the oil pan and spinning a couple bearings. It only sat outside at two different shows that summer, otherwise it's in the shed. I think someone poured tap water down the dipstick cause there is no way that much rain water could have went down the curved stack.

It looks just like that but has a factory cab. This one has a chrome intake stack and the muffler looks like it was stainless steel when new.

Thanks for posting pictures. I have not seen one do that before, back when we farmed with them, we had 3 of them over the years break the top of the piston by the oil ring. On the 585 engines we had two of them spin rod bearings, not sure why, they were not low on oil nor being over worked.

Had a neighbor that had a 950 Vista diesel. He was disking with it when boom. He said it blow the dipstick out of the block. Maybe this is what happened to his. I thought it was a neat tractor.

Rod, That is a very interesting setup. Do you have any more photos - different angles etc. This photo creates sort of an optical illusion to me so I'm not totally certain what I'm seeing.
Thanks for posting.

(maybe my cataracts are in the way!!!)

How can you be so lucky to spin the rods rather than mains? The mains go for me and trash the block! My luck has never been good.

Vistas were only G1000s with a 504 diesel or LP. So all Vistas are G1000s but not all G1000s were Vistas. Mine is an open station LP. Running 18.5 - 34 rear rubber on power adjust wheels.
Have seen a picture of a Vista somebody put a 336 in, shortened the hood and everything. Now that is wierd!
