Old Abe post tops

Saw a couple of Old Abe post tops at the Allis Gathering of the Orange Show yesterday. What is the going rate on these? The large one, he was asking $250 and the small one was $100. I'm not sure, but the small one I thought might have been a counterfeit.

Small ones advertised as originals will sell for up to $400, and I have seen large ones bring close to $900. Very hard to tell originals from nice reproductions. I have not seen enough sell to tell if painted ones bring more or less than rusty ones. I bought a package deal from the family of a gentleman that worked in the Case foundry. They thought they did me a big favor by sand blasting all the rust off?? I did paint them, otherwise I like to leave them rusty. Did I do the right thing?
