580 Backhoe not moving @ leaking in starter area???

Have an early 70's 580 CK that sat for some time. Got it running again, however, will not move when I put it gear. HOWEVER, when I engage the stablizers and put it up in the air, the rear tires will turn both forward and backwards when in gear.

When I put it back on the ground, it will not move!!!!

Main thing I notice is that when I turn it on, it begins to leak oil fluid from behind the starter area. It leaks quiet a bit so I know it loses pressure and does not allow it to move.

Question:

- Is there an o-ring or seal somewhere around the starter area where the leak is?? Or is it something "deep" internal which requires splitting?? (Don't look forward to this part).

Thank you in advance for your advise and assistance. David

I will assume it has "Torque Convertor Drive", that means it has a wet flywheel, and the oil there is normal, the starter seal or gasket to the torque/starter is bad, worse case is pull the starter. if its leaking that bad the convertor may well be low on oil, that is checked with engine running and oil warm at a idle, the fill/check dipstick is in front of the 4 speed gearshift leaver, I recommend Case Hy-Tran oil for it
