Lead additive for the old tractors??

I don't use any lead additive. The ethanol is what causes the problems with fuel hoses, rubber gaskets, and carburetors.

I added a lead additive to the fuel one year in my to-35 Ferguson. The valve guides had been replaced at rebuild with the new type guides that do not require the lead additive.

The lead made the engine seize tight.

I would not use the lead additive.

We have used ethanol blended fuel since the 70's in everything from motorcycles to tractors and NEVER had a problem. If there is already crap in the system I wouldn't be suprised to hear that ethanol blended gas may break it loose and send through the system .It does not cause crap getting in there.

That stuff is just another snake oil product that has NO lead in it and does nothing to help. Don't waste your $$ buying it since as I said has no lead. These old tractor where made to run on the poorest gas out there and have for decades

Unless you use a tractor (truck, car, etc.), on a daily basis, I see no need for an additive. Just running one in shows or even on a tractor drive will not cause immediate wear damage. Judging by what I have read, additives are not very efficient anyway. If I were concerned about wear damage, I would have a machine shop install new style valve guides and seats. Just my thinking.
