Case 2090 Float Control

A client of mine has a case 2090 and is complaining of the float control not staying engaged on its own. I have limited experience with this but I am assuming that the float control is supposed to stay locked in float when ever the lever is pushed far enough forward but his just springs back to neutral. I am thinking maybe there is a ball detent issue here but am unsure. Does any one have experience with this? Thank you.

Before you spend any money make certain the travel is correct. Had a 2090 years ago every so often the bracket down in the console would bend. Finally made a brace to the floor, problem solved. Tom

I don't think the travel is the problem because while I was looking at it I took the valve loose from the linkage and tried pushing it to its max and never got it too hold.

Could you tell me on your 2090 would float mode lock in place and if so would it do it regardless if the tractor was running or not? I am trying to figure out what is suppose to hold the valve in float. Thanks.
