The pictures show the problem with the springs. Someone had put the wrong springs in the pilot spool valve which didn't allow enough travel. We replaced the transmission control valve and discovered this issue when taking it apart.

Yes the hydraulics work with the clutch up or down. I think the spring was compressing and acting like a solid piece instead of a spring not allowing c4 pilot spool to travel where it needed to. The two springs that are shiny are the wrong ones the two black ones are the right ones , the shiny ones look like they came from the local hardware store not long enough not the right gaps between coils and to stiff. We did change the power shift control valve.

Eddie do you know if the different springs were put in your old valve if that would have corrected the problem?

Rod I don't think so we got a different pilot spool and it wanted to hang in the bore and stall the engine when we tried to start it. Maybe if we took the time to mess with it, but we need the tractor and if someone did that with the springs what else did they do? We got a reconditioned control valve from elmers repair new gaskets and now the Trans pressure is 190 psi in all circuits 60 psi at the lube at idle. The hydraulics with the inching pedal in any position is 1700 psi at the remotes and the three point works where ever you have the pedal.

Wow! thats a heck of a find!

I find that some people will do anything if you give them the chance

I was talking to a man that owned a case 970 with 16,000hrs they started to have problems with a plunger sticking in the PS so they took it to machine shop and had .035 ground from the spool, within a few days their 970 bit the dust.

Yes thing has been a headache, but it is really good to get the thing up and running! Thank you guys for all your input on trying to figure it out much appreciated!
