The Weed Battle Continues

I only was able to cultivate 2 days last week. After today, hopefully I can finish tomorrow. Still a lot of muddy spots in the field. The tractor has to get cleaned up when finished to pull a wedding party trailer on Sat. Rod.

Been years since we have cultivated corn, we have never cultivated beans, can you still use a flex head after they are cultivated?

We also had some heavy rain a few weeks ago, I think a cultivating in the corn would have really aired it out, but with all the potholes I think we would have lost more than the gain. Too tall now.

Great pictures and nice well kept machinery.

We cultivate and furrow/ditch beans to flood irrigate here in central Kansas. We still use a flex head to cut them as well.

Looks like you won the battle!! I drill our beans in 7" rows & rotary hoe at least twice. We're certified organic here.

Trust me, there is plenty, with the Danish tine cult I learned the hard way. You get those weeds when they are small.

I know this is awful to put on here but this is my latest cultivating rig. Try to ignore the color. It can be adapted to a 70 series. There were 3 on 9 and 1070s near me

Great looking beans, and looks like a fun job with the straight rows and level terrain. That would be a rare site in my part of the country. No cultivating even on the 30" rows. You might see a cultivator in a corn field once in a while, but very rarely in a bean field. Most farm so much they don't have time necessary to cultivate.

The Danish tine does leave the ground more level, but the regular tine as yours will take out bigger weeds.

Nobody cultivates here either, this is probably the first time in 10 years I cultivated beans also. These beans were hailed on almost a month ago and are just starting to regrow. I am hoping after this I do not have to respray again.

Hello Rod,

Nice looking cultivating rig. Hopefully your beans recover fully from the hail. I wish we could cultivate beans, too many stones though. Don

Rod, GREAT Pictures, beans look good for being hit by hail. I see your cultivator is a 8 row, I have one in the barn just like new, now that I got rid of my 8 row planter and have a 6 will need to adjust, maybe take the outside rows off. Jerry from Ohio

I have a 2-row cultivator on a Farmall C that I use to cultivate the garden and some little patches of corn. I have the row spacing set at 42 inches.
