Is there a way to check the transmission fluid on a case 530 Gasser. And are these shift on the go it grinds alot going from 3 to fourth when moving

The transmission/hydraulic oil level dipstick is located in different locations depending on the type of clutch. If the tractor is a dry clutch, the dipstick is on the left side of the torque tube (see first pic below). If it is a Case-o-matic (COM) the dipstick will be adjacent to the hydraulic oil filter on the right side of the tractor (see second pic below).

There are two reason you are have more grinding from 3 to 4 gear. First, the transmission on these 50-60 year old tractors is not synchronized like the modern tractors. Second, there is a significant jump in gear ratios from 3rd to 4th. The differences in ground speed between 1st & 2nd, and 2nd & 3rd are relatively small, but there is a large jump from 3rd to 4th. - Joe

Thank you i will check it tonight. This is not a case-o-matic. Is there a place to check the fluid in the differential or is it on common sump? Thanks for the pictures
 
The rear-end/differential dipstick/fill-hole is on the top of the transmission just ahead of the top-plate, under the seat. See pic below. The operators manual calls for gear lube in the differential, but some here use high quality hydraulic fluids in both reservoirs. My preference is gear-lube.

My hydraulic plug/dipstick is under the fuel tank and just about a twin to the rear end one
 
Good point.... The later series moved the dipstick from the side of the torque tube to the hydraulic plate on top of the torque tube, under the fuel tank on the right side.

The dipstick and fill plug are the same thing on the dry clutch
tractors. Remove the fill plug and you will find the dipstick
attached to the plug.
