970 powershift

When you push the clutch down or shift to high it kills the motor, does fine with clutch out in low or second. If you get it in reverse it will die, cleaned C1 and C3 spool valves and they move freely, I think the culprit is C1 clutch plate or piston. What do you all think ? Thanks for all the help. Derek

Sounds like the C1 is causing the problem as both 1st and 2nd power shift use that clutch.

A lack of disengagement either hydraulically or mechanically can have the result you are getting. Put a gage in the C1 test port on the control valve and if the clutch pressure is dropping off as it should you can pretty well be assured of a mechanical problem.

I have already removed the pilot spool to diagnose units and have replaced the plug and flushed the bores after clearing a stuck pilot spool. If C1 stays engaged with the pilot spool removed and no pressure on the C1 test port you can bet it's internal.
