C.O.M. transmissions

I have a question for you seasoned case experts. I found an original 59 611b in a barn for my brother. I have never been around the C.O.M. before and would like to know the correct way to operate this transmission. I have experience with the dual-range,and power-shift but,C.O.M. is new to me.My brother hauled it to his house and told me it blew oil out of the tranny (near the bellhousing and a soft plug) as he engauged the clutch to unload it. What could have caused this? I wasn't there so I can only describe what he told me it did. Any advise or ideas on how to operate this and,or what may cause the oil to blow out would be greatly appreciated. 731C.K.

it sounds like the clutch pedal stop needs adjusted, if it is too short when you step down on the clutch hard/all the way it can (and does) push the soft plug out of the COM valve as it lets the spool move to far and it hits the plug

You can still get and Operators Manual which lays it all out pretty plain. The short version is that you drive it just like any vehicle with an automatic transmission. IOW- put it in gear and step on the gas. Once you get moving at the speed you want, flip the COM lever. That locks the torque converter. If you come to a hill or tough spot flip the COM lever the other way and you are back in fluid drive and you gain torque while slowing a bit. The COM is JUST the locking torque converter. The transmission itself is a standard bulletproof Case gear tranny. All the COM amounts to is the clutch, so to speak. It's not a power shift tranny at all.

Thank you to Brett and CaseNutty for your responces. We found an original operators manual but, haven't received it yet.I feel if it is explained to me at times is easier to understand.Casenutty I found my service manual for the "B" series to adjust the stop on clutch pedal. I told my brother when we looked at it that the clutch pedal didn't feel right to me. Thanks again for you replies. 731 C.K.

I purchased a CASE 610B and the best thing I done was to purchase a "CASE SREVICE MANUAL" number
R.I. Form 9-92281 and a parts CATALOG R.I.372. These manuals were purchased off E-BAY.
