On Saturday my youngest brother and I brought home a Case 200 baler. The paint isn't the greatest and it's a little dirty, but overall it seems to be in decent mechanical shape. It also came with the optional dual wheel for the left side of the machine. We hope to run a little straw through it after wheat harvest next month.

Gee, that's in real nice shape compared to what you'd find around here.

Real nice looking barns you've got there too. Whereabouts are you?

I think it is prudent to assure that there are NO rusted or
binding links in the chains involved in the tying process. Years
ago I sheared a set of needles and suspected the long chain
driven by the plunger gearbox.

Then a couple years ago, even after the first mishap and now
keeping the chain well lubricated, I sheared my second set. It
may be wise to replace that long chain with a new one before
you even try the first bale. Much cheaper and easier to find
than a good set of needles.

Oh, and don't think for a minute that the safety latch on the
plunger is going to work for you to save the needles. Mine
failed twice.

Eric, the safety latch only really works if a chain fails ect, most times I see needles broken it is a timing issue, the hay coming into the chamber from the plunge breaks them, the needles should enter the chamber behind the plunger also I have seen the needle brake to loose and let the needles work back into the chamber from bouncing, just a thought,, is all might save you from another broken set

hey I was at that sale too! I bought the cultivators off the WD you also bought! I was going to try and buy that baler too, but it seems like it has found a good home!

Actually we bought this baler off of craigslist, if there was another one that sold at an auction that same day that's quite a coincidence! Bret, we're located in NW Ohio, about 20 minutes southeast of Toledo. Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions. We're not sure how many bales we'll try to run through it this summer but we'll be sure to post more pictures when we do.

Wow, that is a coincidence. Those balers look the exact
same, except now that you mention it, the other one had a
little bit if old oil around the gear box
