Case 995 Blow By

I have a case 995 and it keeps blowing oil and white smoke out of the blow by tube and dip stick. I Changed the oil and cleaned the breather hose but it still keeps doing it. Is it bad rings or what? I also found some small metal shavings in my oil filter.
 
9 chances in 10 is that it has broken pistons and rings. Most likely cause is that someone used ether on the poor thing.
 
As Rich said, it sounds like an ether adict.
All DBs with operating thermo-start would start in most any condition, as long as the Bat. is in good condition. The Thermo-start is a mini blow torch located in the intake manifold, fueled by diesel fuel from the tank, and ignited by a electric heating coil. No reason to use ether if the system is maintained.

White smoke is often antifreeze. If you have any gelatin like stuff on the dipstick or inside the breather cap, you have a cracked head or head gasket problem as well........
 
In the case of a DB, the white smoke is usually atomized oil that the exhaust gasses picked up off the rocker arms on its way out the breather.
 
I"ve never used ether on it and I bought it used we had it for a year before it started doing this then one day when I was running the brush hog it just started it and it"s sat. I took the breather lines off and cleaned them and it fixed it then the problem came back again so I don"t know what it"s doing.
