slow hydraulic functions resolved on 1070

I have a 1070 that was experiencing slow hydraulic functions when the power shift was in either first or second but not when it was clutched or in reverse or third. Common assumption and practice has been the seals in the C1 clutch pack leaking, until now. I took it in to the local dealership and the mechanic split the tractor and noticed right away that the internal components of the transmission appeared to be in very good condition. So before going any further he decided to check out the valve body that contains the spool valves. Upon checking that he found that the spool valve plug for the C1 clutch was slightly backed out, allowing the valve to move back to far which allowed oil to dump in to a port that it should not have been. The bad thing is my dad told me to check for a broken spring in one of those valves first but taking the direction of two separate Case mechanics from two separate dealerships, I failed to thoroughly investigate the spool valves and just took it to the dealership. The mechanic that worked on it has many years of experience in working on the older models and stated that this was the first time he had ever seen this problem not be the seals in the transmission C1 clutch pack being the culprit. I did have a few broken rivets on the clutch disk that is located between the engine and transmission so I guess it wasn"t a total unnecessary step to split it.
