970 Power Steering/Hydraulic Problems

Have a 970 Demonstrator 8 speed with manual brakes. The power steering all but quit on it. It works if the tractor is half throttle or better. All the other hydraulics work. We took apart the relief valve and it was clean and moved smoothly. We have oil pumping up to the relief valve. Did not do pressure or flow test. Any ideas? We are thinking it might be the pump. If it is, are repair kits still available for 70 series hydraulic pumps? Best place to get one? I believe it is part # A 42826? Thanks.

From what you described it sounds like the pump could be at fault. It can be flow tested to confirm it is at fault. No rebuild kits available. The best bang for the buck at this time seems to be a new one from Hy Capacity, I have used several with good results as of yet. If needed I could get one for you but I am sure you have a dealer near by. Rod.
