Unknown Model Number

I am trying to identify this tractor. All the tin labels are missing. Been told. 500. 530.311. None of this look like this one. Does anyone know what this is. I need to get a parts manual to order parts. Hydraulics are inoperative and need repair. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm seeing a 400 standard tractor Can you read the serial # off the right side of the dash.80XXXXX Chuck Will you put me in your will?

Nice looking 400 there. If you look at the flange on the engine where it bolts to the bell housing on the left side you will find the serial number stamped into it. Assuming the engine hasn't been changed we can get you a year.

There could be several things wrong with the hydraulics. They are live so when the engine is running you should have hydraulics.

Eli.

Thank you all.

I am told by its owner that when he bought it he was told shaft was broken and removed that runs hydraulic pump and PTO. He also states some of the drive gears do not operate as if they are missing from the transmission.
My guess is hydraulic pump drive shaft missing causes these other gears to not work. Would this be a safe assumption? Parts are missing?

When you decide to get into her ,do not hesitate to make further inquiries . I got into my hydraulics last fall, and found moisture contamination, and I was fortunate only to drain the system and change the filter and refill. There is a wire mesh filled cap that wasp like to plug up with mud, just remove it and wash it in a can of solvent. Your going to have fun discovering her idiosyncrasies. John Saeli has the filter you need. His # is 315-585-9826 Chris, his better half will easily fill your order , as she says-he is putting out fires .She keeps the fire extinguisher close by! HEE! Chuck Machinist

Anything is possible but, there is the small option that the previous owner simply did not know how to shift between ranges and so could only "find" 4 gears instead of 8. Hopefully that's it. Maybe someone else could post a shifting diagram for you. It can be confusing until you get it a feel for it. I apologize in advance if you already understand how the shifting works. Don
