830 rear end

my books came right from case case 830&730 are different from the 930&1030 they show a good breakdown of what you needbut part#s are different

Thanks for that info. I've got a parts manual for the 730-830 and shop manual that covers up to a 1030, and was hoping since they are grouped together in the shop manual that they used the same housing.

I'm in North Carolina. My situation is that my Grandfather bought an 830 with "right brake knocks" painted on the tire. The only trouble it ever gave was that it knocked when going down hill. Then, a few years ago, 1st gear went out. I only use it for mowing/baling hay, so it never really bothered me. This week, I opened the transmission to see what was inside, and found that there had been a bearing failure on the lower shaft, and everything inside has been chewed up.

I think you can use anything 400-830 with the exception of the 400 not having speedo drive parts

they are different. but if you were crafty you could bolt the 730-830 motor to a 930-1030 rear end.
Tin and steering may be a trick to do.
