I have a left brake that locks up when I apply the brake, back up a little and it releases, is this brake out of adjustment or does it need more attention?

I do not know for sure with a Case but in general that usually is an indication that your brakes are either way out of adjustment or that the fabric is just about gone.

Could be a leaking differential seal leaking lube into the brake housing, or broken springs on the actuator. Best to get it fixed because a locking wheel is very hard on the drive train.

If it has the ramp ball disc brakes, the lining may be worn and allowing the balls to come too far up the ramp. Could also be a rust problem with the balls and ramps. I replace the balls with hardened stainless steel one when I overhaul the brakes. Or could just be a broken spring.

I"ve had this happen a couple of times. Just take the brake housings off, remove the actuator and disassemble it, clean everything real good, lube the balls and channels with anti-seize, lube the actuator pivots, and put it all back together. Takes about 1/2 hour per side, and your brakes will work great.

These brakes tend to get a mixture of moisture and dust in them that can cause serious rust problems, especially on tractors that sit out in the weather. The good news - they aren"t all that hard to take apart and repair.

Thanks for all the help fellas, I took it apart and it was rusted, polished everything up and lubed with anti sieze and its a new tractor, thanks again!
