Case 730 won't stay running after rebuild

Hey guys,
I have a 731 that I just finished putting back together after having the crank turned. The tractor ran mint prior to splitting it into a million pieces in the barn, but now it refuses to stay running for more than 10 seconds. I filled the tank and bled the fuel system (all filters, injectors and return line) and replaced the first two filters. The third filter is on order. The first two filters were really nasty so I suspect #3 won't be too hot either.
I know the timing marks were dead on when I reassembled it and the valves are adjusted correctly. I'm kind of at a loss at this point. It will fire over and stay running for 10 seconds or so with a little ether/wd40, smoke like crazy and slowly die. Any help would be appreciated, sorry for the essay, just trying to be thorough!

That's what they do when the injector pump is 180 degrees off. (firing on the exhaust stroke)

Oh really? So The injection pump gear rotates twice for every one rotation of the cam gear, which means even though I lined up the dot it was on the wrong rotation?

Easy to do if you don't check to see if you are on the compression stroke before timing it! Throw a pair of pushrods in the lifter bore and crank until the piston comes up and both rods are down. Then line the marks and your done!

Don't forget to roll it back to 30 deg or so BTDC as specced in the manual. The marks on the pump are for the BTDC setting, not TDC. We found this out the hard way putting the pump back in a 930 that had the exact same behavior.

So you guys were right. I would've figured it out but it would've taken me longer. Timing was way off, pulled and reset the pump and it fired right up. Unfortunately it also starting dripping oil at a pretty consistent rate out of the weep hole on the bellhousing. Looks like I'll be splitting it again. I replaced the rear main seal when I put it back together but something must not be right in there.
