Okay so I took a close picture because I have never seen this before. Maybe someone can get me more information.

I have a 1929 L, but there is no tool box and the tag was placed below the radiator like an LE unit. The paint, decals, and markings all look original. It does have a V waterpump pulley and that looks newer but the paint under the hood and fuel tank looks original. It does have the kingston carb (different connection than regular carb) but the back of the exhaust manifold is bad.

Anyone ever see a tag like this on a C or L before?

I'm still working on the rear cutoffs.

Thanks
Eric

Okay, Thanks. Do you know if they ever had a toolbox? Or a hole in the hood for oiling the rockers?

The toolbox is located beneath the operator's [platform. There should be a section of the platform that can be lifted out of the way to access it.

I would have to look in my ops manual to be sure but I think you just pulled the cover and oiled them, can't remember right now sorry

My 1929 L (has been in the family since new Winter of 1928-9 It has hole in hood to oil rockers. If you look close you can see the pipe in the hood. I don"t believe a tool box came with the 29 L and all the serial number tags were on the right lower rad mount

No, Jimmie, it's not. All it is is a rectangular box between the channels the platform sits on. Both of my 29 L's have it that way.

If the tool box was under the floorboards I never seen it . I"ll have to look at mine. Also we we both right on oiling rocker arms. Picture is from pages Case Nutty sent me.

Thanks to all the posts. I see it reads oil through hood and sometimes remove hood and cover for kerosene when running. I'll keep working on it this summer and try to keep you posted.

What does the toolbox look like under the "hatch"?

When do you think was the last time they used these, because they continued to make the floorboards with the three part center section for a long time after 1929?

Steve.
