just bought a 2590 short wheelbase .it seems very unstable at full speed . can l change it to a long wheelbase by turning the axle around and moving the steering cylinder mount . l want the look and feel of a long 2594

Simple answer, no, not that easy. You need to change the whole front casting and axle

I have to leave the forum for a little while, but when I come back I"ll send some pictures how I extended my 2390, it"s just the same as a 2590. If your good at welding it"s simple.

Back when those tractors where only a few years old there was a local machine shop that cut those housings apart and rewelded and changed a few things to make them a long wheelbase. I do not know what was all done. But now decades later I would think salvage yards should be able to fix you up with the right parts to do the swap. Rod.

I had all the steel cut at the plant I was working at. The box is the framework. Underneath is a 2x4 in. bar drilled out to take the same bushing as the original mounts. I had a steel bar the same dia. As the pivot shaft. Lined it up and tacked all welds . removed box and welded it. Holes were drilled to mount on front of tractor. I did this to my 2390 and did the same for my cousins 2290. This was in 1982 and have not had a weld problem or nothing. Was great as it rides and drives a lot better. Just added hoses to same lines on steering. In 1972 I extended the front axle on my 930 by 26 in.. and it never gave me a spec of trouble.

jimmie did you lengthen yours past the 118 inch wheelbase of a factory long model. l was thinking of reversing mine and moving it ahead to about 124 inch wheelbase. does anyone know the wheelbase of a long 2594 .

No you can't just flip the axle been there done that,a lot of time an words,i've cut an welded as others said,but the easiest way is go get a extended center section,burn't is usualy what I get,several will fit from the 2094 up,i think it is worth the time,better ride,looks,an resale.

I believe it's longer as the whole axle goes ahead of the front pivot point. I had a long wheelbase 2590 and I know my 2390 (changed) was longer. I'll measure mine sometime and post it. The factory long is just closer to the front mount.

the caseih parts site has a different part number for the front axle pin for a 90 and 94 series .does a 94 series axle fit in and what pin will fit.does a 94 axle make the same wheelbase as a 90 series axle .

Agree with Jimmie and Rod, and we flipped lot's of 1370-1570s and 90 series too,with a company Rod mentioned that I suppose is long out of business.
But try a salvage yard for one
I never cared much for the short wheel base on them. That is why I admired the GP 30 series

The book says short wheelbase 104. mine is 123. The nice part about my ext. is you can go back to short . I never altered the tractor frame in any way. Well I did use the front suitcase wht. bracket as part of my ext. but main axle and tractor no change.
