case 1175 leak from pto output shaft

I have a seeping leak coming from around the pto shaft on the 1175. From what I understand from the parts book it could be from the bearing and oil seal retainer or from an o-ring on the output shaft sleeve support assembly. It appears it is the latter as the leak is coming from the inside where the pto shaft sits. Am I understanding the two possibilities correctly? And if the problem is likely from the o-ring, how do you get to it--from the outside through the retainer or from the inside taking the pto housing off? Thanks, Mark.

To replace the o'ring the PTO has to be removed from the tractor and taken apart to get down to the output shaft tube. A CASE service manual would be very helpful in the proper steps if you are not familiar with this repair. Rod.
