Case model 430 serial 8255096 year 1965?
Differential lock how does it work as I understand it allows power to work both rear wheels. How do you engage it? and does it work all the time but disengages when you change gears/
My tractor has leaked hyl. oil threw a defective seal hopefully now repaired. I now need to change the no. 90 oil in the rear end, unfortunately I do not know much oil it holds - if anyone knows please advise. Thank you in advance and have a great safe day. Barney

yes it has a diff lock it has a petal on the right side in the break area how does the darn think work

by pressing the lock down ,this will make both rear weels pull at the same time ,it will lock in on the move, however you should not lock it in if 1 tire is already spining, this could cause damage,it works great plowing if the land wheel is slipping, it will unlock. when you take your foot off it ,the tractor will not turn good locked in ,it will try to keep going strait ,ever tractor should have a diff. lock ,tom in ky. hope this helps

Just put your heel on the pedal and push it down to engauge it. It will release when you take your foot off the pedal, unless there is tension on it. If it doesn't release, tap a break pedal or steer it back and forth to let it release. All it is is a splined collar with a fork attached to the pedal which slides and locks the ends of both axles together.
That is the way it is supposed to work! The pedal shaft could be seized, or the spring on it could be broken. You may have to do some tinkering to make it work, if it hasn't been used for a while.

This is the long pedal that is directly in front of the brake pedals, right?

I've been wondering what that thing does since I got mine a few weeks ago.
