530 transmission seal, do i need it?

my 530 triple range diesel has been in the garage all winter, I got it out to grade the road today and while checkeing the fluids the hyd fluid was low off the stick and the rearend/transmission is way high on the stick. so I figure there is a seal in there that isn't holding. do I need to split the tractor to fix that? or can I just keep filling the hyd sys up with utf and letting it flow into the rearend till they equilize. any body tried that? maybe it will leak out the axle seals. the tractor is sort of a lost cause plus I don't really want to work on it during the summer. thanks.

It the piston seal under the seat remove the lift arm cover and replace the piston seal that should stop the oil transfer

I would doubt that it is the lift seal if it has been sitting all winter. Most likely the pto shaft seal as that is in oil all the time. could also be the front input shaft seal. If allowed to equalize you will have oil leaking out of alot of places and when in high 4th it will come out around the shifter and will really lack power. There was a post a couple days back that covered this same thing, with pictures of what you have to fix.
